How long time players feel about pvp
This was posted on one of my old guild's forum, addressing their former in game friends.

But to all honesty, this game is over, lame, stupid and a waste of time. Before the Holiday break started (name) and I came to the conclusion of how the game was not really fun for us anymore. He was done after factions came out and I was done as Nightfall began. I wish I had my $60 back, but oh well. Its not so much the game--I liked a lot of what Nightfall offered--controlable henchmen, Koss's afro, and attempt at a story ect. But Anet is all about horrible customer service--and the whole farming nerf and them having the balls to tell me I can't use Factions skills in GVG (and that I wasted $60 buying a game they claimed was "stand alone") was it. The anet (WW2 german faction)'s can kiss my crack, as I have said many times. However, I understand that the owners of NCSoft are a Korean based company, and Korea is a communist based nation, therefore they have no understanding of the sales model or any experience in how to keep a product active among is customers, such as Nintendo (who has long embraced the capitalist manifesto) does (god bless them).
Everyone has /raged for WOW or better things. (name) and (name) are in the process of possibly selling their accounts, and my friends list has shrunk due to anet's incompetant idealisms. I reccomend reading a very special book anet, its called "THE NORDSTROM WAY" inside this bible of customer service you will find the simple means of maintaining your business for over 100 years, just as Nordstrom has.
This game also brings out the very worst in people. I read a 5 + page of rants on the (guild name) forum of some of the newer members being childish with name calling because (name) gvg'd with non-(guild name) friends of his for fun. I nearly kicked (name) out of the apartment for choosing GW over me or neglecting family and friends. This game is like crack, it is bad, it isn't fun but you can't stop playing and its annoying, frustrating and retarded.
We've been playing NWN2 and its nice to be able to play it just when your bored, or have nothing to do. Its nice to be able to pause or stop where you are and pick up later when you have time. Its nice to be able stop and resume real life--I like that (name) can stop playing and take out the trash or eat dinner at the table with me because he won't be letting the team down if he leaves.
That's life, and I enjoy having one.
In a nutshell, we're done, and for the right reasons. You guys are free to keep the name, keep the hall and all the junk and use this forum. (name) and I might log in from time to time, and I'd love to invite you guys to play NWN2 with us.
And hey, if the metagame improves, we may come back someday.

The poster and most of the people he/she mentioned have been playing with me since the beginning of 2006. Nightfall and the lack of balance and professionalism in the game and its programming drives players away, even from their long time ingame friends. We will of course playother games together when possible, but it's really bad when a game gets so bad you don't even want to play it with friends anymore.
Something for Anet to think about.

South Korea is a democracy.
But he's echoing the sentiment of A LOT of players. I'm waiting for warhammer personally, before I quit.

Dont hold your breath for that one. If a game is based off of the poorly designed and balanced system such as the games produced by games workshop, you are just setting yourself up for a fall.
The best you could hope for within that game is all the flavor text and fluffy goodness from the fiction in backstory and quests within the game, while the game its self has absolutely no hint of anything game mechanics wise produced from games workshop. That is of course, unless you like the rotating circle jerk of buffs to stimulate product sales, that has been the buisness model for games workshop for the past 20 years or so.
Personally i got tired of that RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO and bull story within the SOE games.

Yeah, I feel the same. Guild Wars is now stupid and not fun, because of all the bad changes Anet are making to PvP. I'm waiting for Fury and Portal to come out, hopefully they are good. It's just a shame Guild Wars died like this, it used to be pretty awesome fun.

Mythic is coding it, but GW owns it, yet EA aquired mythic. Depending on how you observe at least two of those companies histories can dictate a lot of different point of views. Personally im not going near it.
You can weigh DAOC vs what EA did to earth and beyond, then flavor it with games workshop nuiances if you like.

Ok? This game is not subscription based and doesn't need to be played as such. If you no longer like playing, you stop-- not much worth discussing. Especially in a pvp discussion forum area.
If a new final fantasy game comes out and you don't enjoy yourself, do you get bent out of shape, get mad that you bought the previous final fantasy games, and start telling everyone about how you will no longer be buying future FF games?

Well, for one, in my opinion HA is just dead. Gvg isn't, that's still fun, the changes to vod weren't bad and stuff. But since the battle isles update I haven't really been playing HA (also a bit because I preferred the dessert over an ugly cave). For some reason, it just isn't fun anymore. Good groups don't even advertise for high-ranked people but just push N, and it's harder to get a party than with 6-man. Also, it's really annoying that you get to HoH so fast. Frankly, I don't care for HoH, unless I got there by doing something. You know, actually play 5 of the maps before HoH.
I think they should definately put the 6 minutes back to 12 minutes. Right now getting to HoH isn't an accomplishment, while it used to be. You were happy because you even got to HoH.

I have been feeling the same way every since I came back after a 2 month break.
PvP was great before obs mode because you never know what you would run into. It also made balanced "the" build because of that very reason.
My offline f list is so big now with mostly people that never sign on anymore. Personally I have already bought WoW. I might try some other games later one. GW has taken up too much of my time waiting and hoping they do something right for a change.
I think GW is a ground breaking game that has given all its competitors the exact tools they need to make their games great. With all of Anets mismanagement I don't think it will survive in pvp for much longer.
The new tournament system will either make or break GW for the pvp community.
I don't think the game will ever end on the pve side because they can sell copies and are free to play when ever you want after you have bought the game.
Anet being a korean company really has nothing to do with the game. Just because they own it doesn't mean they make any real decision about the game.
The game really started to go downhill when Anet stopped listening to us.
Polls about HA favored keeping 8v8. Recent polls still favor 8v8 yet they refuse to change it back.
Players did not favor injection of 400+ new skills every 6 months. Still Anet releases every 6 months. Which would work if they restricted skills in pvp but they don't.
Players wanted an auction house. Instead we get another way to advertise while I'm spamming.
Players wanted to be able to guest so they can create groups for GvG easier. Now that's being taken away.
GvG players did not really support the champ points as most of left HA because rank locked them out. That cycle is now repeating in GvG.
We wanted to be able to play random unrated matches. Instead the ladder was destroyed for free play GvG. I'd give it about 2 weeks and you might see 80 guilds still doing free play GvG. Other than that its just practice. I dought more people get involved as there are no prizes or rewards.
Players do not want the 30 limit. 2 weeks to go before tournaments debut and still no news or details. As classic Anet they will wait until a few days before to release all skill changes and tournament details. Shocks the community there will be a big upset and then we enter the tournament season......oh now we can't change anything.
The heavy anti farming attitude at Anet is just shooting themselves in the foot. Many farming skills are cornerstones of pvp monk bars. Bots will not have to ruin this game Anet is doing a great job without their help. Anet claims they want to make things easier to get yet the create all kinds of gold sinks. Drops are deminished for legit farmers making things harder to get. If you really wanted to combat bots move all the really rare drops and highly valuable items to HA.
Anyways.....End Rant......back to WoW for the moment.

Except the paragraph 'This game also brings out the very worst in people.', the quoted poster only succeeds in proving he didn't invent the light. Or the dark.
